SAN ANTONIO – News 4 WOAI unveiled our new Storm Tracking Vehicle (STV) Friday. The highly modified 2012 GMC Yukon is a working weather station and broadcast platform.

“Not only can we use it to actually track the storms, but it’s also a complete mobile weather station. The onboard weather array allows us to read and record weather data in all four of our zones,” explained News 4 WOAI chief meteorologist John Gerard. “We’re the only station in San Antonio with ability to do that.”

Equipped with mobile broadcast capability, the new STV allows the WOAI weather team to broadcast from anywhere in the viewing area. So now if there’s a storm in South Texas - anywhere in the four zones - you can bet on News 4 WOAI being on location.
