MEDINA LAKE, Texas -- Medina Lake is drying up.

The lake is at about 9 percent capacity, which is down from 13 percent in September.

The local water district stopped supplying water to farmers in September, but continues to send water to SAWS.

Evaporation and seepage are some of the reasons the lake has lost water.

Does anyone know whether the waters have receded from the Old Mormon Settlement? If the old settlement has become accessible this might be a good time for an archaeological survey to try to tie down some history from this 1850s settlement before the lake refills and the settlement once again disappears under the waters of Medina Lake.
