SAN ANTONIO -- Officials at UTSA have issued a crime alert after a gun-wielding masked man robbed one person and threatened two others near the campus.
The armed man's first stop was at the Avalon Place Apartments on UTSA Boulevard, where police say he approached two people and pointed a gun at them shortly before 12:00 a.m. Tuesday. One man was robbed there.
We spoke to a spokesperson for the apartment complex, who said they immediately sent out an email and text blast warning residents to be aware of their surroundings.
The man also pulled a gun on a UTSA student in a nearby neighborhood. Raid Alqorashi considers himself lucky. Alqorashi was taking out the trash just after midnight, when a man dressed in a hoodie and wearing a ski mask got out of a black Lexus and approached him. He managed to escape from the gunman and ran inside his home and called police.
UTSA has now issued a crime alert to students. Campus police say the suspect is described as a male who is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds. The man was wearing a black mask and black gloves, and was armed with a black handgun.
