SAN ANTONIO -- A man's bizarre death has turned into a murder investigation.

The man, 35-year-old Corey Cumby, was found dead inside his truck in a ditch at IH-35 and Eisenhauer over the weekend.

Witnesses saw how it ended, but police are now trying to find out how it all started.

"They saw the vehicle driving at a high rate of speed," said Officer Matt Porter of the San Antonio Police Department. "It was swerving."

Witnesses say Cumby was speeding when he drove through the traffic light on the southbound access road of IH-35 before veering off the road and crashing into a ditch.

Cumby was dead inside. He had been shot in the chest.

Several drivers stopped to try and help. One called 9-1-1 while others tried to get Cumby out of the car.

Police have some leads but still don't know why Cumby was shot.

If you have any information that can help police piece together what happened, please immediately call the San Antonio Police Department at 210-207-SAPD (7273) or Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP (7867).
