SAN ANTONIO -- A man is in jail, accused leading police on a high speed chase with a baby in his vehicle early Wednesday.
San Antonio Police officers say they were searching for 25-year-old David Christopher Kellum in connection with the possible kidnapping of a child that happened in the 100 block of Hickman around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday. A Bexar County Deputy spotted Kellum's SUV in the 300 block of San Pedro and followed him onto Interstate 35 South. Police officers joined the pursuit minutes later.
Kellum ignored their attempts to get him to pull over and then led the officers on a chase along Cupples Road, onto Highway 90, and back onto Interstate 35. According to a police report, Kellum reached speeds of up to 90 miles an hour and moved dangerously across all of the lanes of traffic, despite having a young baby in the vehicle. He finally stopped after returning to Hickman Street and was arrested by police.
Police say David Christopher Kellum was booked for evading arrest, deadly conduct, driving while intoxicated, and traffic violations. He also had two active warrants for terroristic threats.
