SAN ANTONIO -- A man has paramedics to thank after he was brought back from the dead following a crash on the East Side.

The accident happened at Rigsby and Roland just before 12:00 a.m. Tuesday. Police said the van went through a red light and was hit by the Suburban. A report states that after officers arrived, the driver of the van, 46-year-old Naamon Alexander Durham, got out and said he had tried to catch the light and was speeding. He told one of the officers the light had changed to red, but he had looked both ways and did not see the Suburban until the crash.

The officer stated Durham breathing was becoming more labored as he was talking, and the officer called for EMS. While an EMS crew was loading Durham into the ambulance, they told the officer he had "expired." The EMS crew, however, was able to revive Durham and transported him to San Antonio Military Medical Center. At last check, he was in stable condition.

The woman was not injured.
