SAN ANTONIO – A construction worker is killed while working at the site of the new Texas A&M campus on the city’s south side. The 43-year-old man died when the trench he was working in collapsed Saturday morning.

Ralph Medina with the San Antonio Fire Department tells News 4 WOAI that crews were trying to dig out a large oak tree from a field at the new campus when the rocks and soil gave way. Medina says,  “He was underneath there doing the final bit of digging when a big portion of the cone over his head fell on top of him and crushed him. It was a very heavy rock and soil.”

No other workers were injured in the collapse.
