SAN ANTONIO -- A man who was doing lawn work was struck by a hit and run driver on the Northeast Side.

The accident happened around 6:15 p.m. Thursday in the 3900 block of Eisenhauer Road. A police report states 47-year-old Jerry Valdez was cutting grass with a weed cutter, when a Toyota Camry drove onto the sidewalk and hit him.

Valdez was taken to Methodist Hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the driver of the Toyota, 20-year-old Conor Sharp of Spring Branch, failed to stop. Officers caught up with him and a passenger nearby a short time later.

Sharp was arrested and charged with intoxication assault and failure to stop and render aid.

@Superspurs__Every time you comment its just a gut retard reaction that you put out on the web. Martial law, ban all alcohol, oh and my favorite, all fat people suck and should just shut up while we verbally abuse them! Those are just some of the gems you have put out there. You are a whack job and thank the Lord you are not in charge of anything important.

Sorry, Cosmos. I'm so happy to say I am incorrect. He's NOT dead (thankfully)!

That's why it's nice to have large trees in between streets and sidewalks like quaint neighborhoods have, the trees can be a nice bumper for drunks. When I was stroller walking years ago, we were almost hit by a drunk truck driver who ran up the curb onto the sidewalk, luckily a police officer saw the whole thing and got involved right then. That was another sidewalk without any buffer zone between traffic and pedestrians.

The story is about a man who was cutting grass (i.e. working) and a car came up on the sidewalk and hit him (i.e. he didn't run out in front of traffic). My heart goes out to his family. May he RIP.

Dude what is with drivers in this city? We should declare Martial law on our streets. The city does not protect us from these types so let the military intervene and arrest them and throw them in the brig with no bail.
