Man convicted in deadly hit & run sentenced to probation

SAN ANTONIO -  A jury has sentenced an elderly man to two years probation after convicting him in a deadly hit and run accident in which an 11-year-old boy was killed.

Juan Manuel Lopez was convicted for failing to stop and render aid.

Super Abel Herebia, who was named after his birthday on Super Bowl Sunday, was walking home from football practice when he tried to cross Highway 90 back in September of 2009.

Lopez could have received as much as 10 years in prison.

Yes, there is way too much info missing from this story, did the jury cut the guy a break because the kid was crossing a major free way? Whats the rest of the story here...

What was the basis/reasoning for probation? Come on WOAI - DETAILS!!! Did the parents of this child get any penalty for allowing their child to illegally cross the highway?

probation for a hit and run that killed a child. Now we know why noone ever stops to render aid and leaves the seen.
