SAN ANTONIO -- A man choked with a jump rope by two burglars inside his home is refusing to stay a victim.
The man caught two men trying to break into his northwest side home Monday morning. The men ran off and he called 911, but the two attacked him from behind once he was inside his house.
The man described the struggle and how he was pushed against an entertainment center.
"When I was trying to get up and I felt something tight around my neck and it was the jump rope. I didn't know what it was at the time but later on found out it was the jump rope they put around my neck. They choked me to the point where I went unconscious," the man explained. When he came to, a police officer was standing over him, trying to make sure he was okay. He was not seriously hurt.
Concerned relatives asked that News 4 WOAI not identify the victim, who says he now has a dog and is increasing security in his home.
"I could easily leave and put the house up for sale and just be done with it. I don't want to be pushed from the place that I live in," he said.
His home has been broken into several times before so he doesn't keep anything valuable in the home. The man says he and his neighbors have been discussing starting a neighborhood watch.
San Antonio Police are still investigating the case.
