SAN ANTONIO -  Police arrested 23-year-old Roland Ponce in connection with a shooting on Hicks Avenue Thursday evening. The shooting happened around 5:00 p.m. in the 1400 block of Hicks Avenue near South New Braunfels on the east side.

A 23-year-old man was shot several times and was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition. A SAPD spokesman says investigators believe the victim owed Ponce money. Ponce is charged with attempted murder and faces a bond of $75,000.

Attempt murder is one charge, what about firing a weapon in the city limits, endangering families, children, elders? Ban on guns is not the answer to prevent crime! Punishing the criminal to the full extend of the law is the answer. Bet this guy will get off with less than a 50 dollar fine and less than 30 days in jail. It will not surprise me if both will be suspended.
