SAN ANTONIO -- A 20-year-old San Antonio man is facing charges after police say he abused a 4-month-old baby.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Matthew Taylor Mays is responsible for fracturing the baby's skull and breaking both of his legs on September 13th. The affidavit states Mays first said the baby had fallen off the bed. He later claimed he had dropped the baby on the kitchen floor while preparing a bottle for the child. However, a doctor told police the child's injuries were not consistent with a fall but were highly consistent with abuse such as swinging or yanking the baby.
Mays was arrested Tuesday and is in the Bexar County Jail.
