Man accused of cashing fake checks captured

SAN ANTONIO -- A man accused of writing fake checks for cash is now in jail.

Jason Dobbs and a woman who investigators say was his accomplice were featured in a Crime Stoppers report last week. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, police and the US Secret Service say Dobbs cashed hundreds of dollars in fake checks. He faces fraud charges.

Police still need your help in catching his alleged accomplice. Christina Smelser facing charges too. Records show she is wanted on tampering with government records charges.

Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP (7867), submit a tip online, or text a tip by texting "Tip 127 plus your tip" to CRIMES (274637). Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment of a felony offender.
