SAN ANTONIO -- Police have arrested a man they say assaulted his ex-wife and then took off with her dog.

An arrest warrant affidavit states 39-year-old Carlos Martinez and his ex-wife divorced in July of 2011 and the court issued a protective order in the case. Martinez's ex-wife said he showed up at her apartment on December 26th and got in through the backdoor. She told police Martinez wanted to reconcile but she refused and told him to leave. She said he then struck her in the face with a closed fist, threw her furniture around her apartment, and then fled with her dog.

Martinez is charged with Violation of a Protective Order - Assault.
