So why would kids be walking alongside of Loop 1604??? Safety is one thing, but putting school zones where they are not needed reeks of a police speed trap.

What is Texas law regarding school zones? In Arizona and most other states I have been to, school zone speeds are in effect from the start of the school zone sign until you pass the crosswalk, then you are allowed to resume normal posted speed limits. You are NOT required to maintain 20 MPH throughout the entire "zone." Is this the same here in Texas or are the speeds from one side of the zone until the other?
