SAN ANTONIO - A lightning storm lit up the sky on the Northwest Side of town Sunday evening.
Since tracking storms to keep viewers informed is what we do here at News 4 WOAI, photojournalist Stephen Clapper and I headed northwest on Interstate 10, following the gray skies to seek out rain in the distance. But what we experienced near the Dominion Country Club was much more than what we expected.
Sheets of rain poured down from the sky, bringing with it thunder and lightning. It was a sight to see. The lightning bolts shot straight down and an enormous rumble followed.
As we chased the storm, the roar of thunder kept getting louder and lightning became more frequent. The thunder sounded like a gunshot. I turned around to see photojournalist Stephen Clapper on the ground.
We were safe, but we knew it was time to look for better cover.
