@hidden agenda, I have to totally disagree with you on this one!!! Actually, you'll NEVER get me to say to this day (I'm 59) that there is no Santa. This is part of the magical part of our innocent, loving, happy childhoods. If it wasn't part of yours, I'm so terribly sorry. You know, I can't really recall when I realized the truth that I'll NEVER admit to (because the innocent faith, belief, and joy of babies is too precious to take away), and it didn't matter to me for a couple of reasons. First, I had younger siblings to protect so they could still enjoy. Second, I began a thing very early of stuffing my parent's stockings because Santa didn't since they were adults, and I considered that unfair...but not against Santa because I figured he had his hands full with all the kids in the world. Get an understanding of how strong my belief was? It finally became a big deal where me, my siblings, and my parents were jockying for time to fill the stockings. Later, "stocking stuffer" little gifts became the icing on the cake, so to speak, when opening the gifts under the tree. Family fun, family traditions, an innocent belief that produces joy, glee, and happiness in the young and innocent. What is wrong with that? Those letters to Santa told Mom & Dad what the greatest wishes of their children were, and kids don't always tell the parents what they'll tell Santa. Oh, and the cookies & milk left for the jolly old elf!!!! I loved the crumbs left on the saucer and the empty glass!!! Life is too nasty and stressful, so why take the fantasy and fun from the little ones? Done right, we all grow to finally figure out the truth without having to be told and heart broken. Forget marketing & capitalism.....Santa, St. Nick, the Jolly Old Elf has been around for ages, and during times that any stocking gifts from him were hand made by mom &/or pop. The more commercial and selfish our society becomes, the less these innocent babies get a chance at feeling LOVE!!!!!

WoW.. telling kids and adults the truth has become harsh.. well whats harsh to me is, lying to a kid for years and years and have them believe in something so much that they would go and wright this imaginary person a letter, make lists, and leave cookies and milk year after year.. Then one day little Timmy or little Cindy Hoo find out this whole time it was a sham put on by marketing and capitalism.. do you remember how heart broken you where when you found out the truth? and you want to put every little kid threw that as well like its some right of passage? now that's harsh..
