Lego has been accused of racism by the Turkish community over a Star Wars model that supposedly resembles one of Istanbul’s most revered mosques.

The Telegraph reports that "the anger was provoked by “Jabba’s Palace”, a model of the home of Jabba the Hutt from Lego’s Star Wars product range based on the blockbusting series of science fiction films.

Anyway, the most educational version of Legos is the robot set Mindstorms, very engineering style and gets into computer programming as well. That robot set is used in some college and university engineering courses. The Star Wars and Harry Potter sets are a waste of money.

That is a very offensive post Pastor Bob. Do you go around telling everyone that to their faces? or just to your church and family? It's like the Westboro church with that language. I'm a christian but Jesus spoke harsher to the church leaders than to rest, you sound like a Pharisee.

Many people are unaware that Lego Fireman is actually modeled on Reverend John Haggee, who is from right here in San Antonio and Lego Hairdresser is a dead ringer for Reverend Joel Osteen of Houston. Lego Aunt Jemima is an exact replica of Oprah, right down to the razor she carries in her sock. Those Turks ought not get all riled up over this. Lego does things like this all the time and they mean no harm. If I was them, I'd be more concerned about the eventual disposition of my immortal soul. Those Turks are Muslims and they worship falsely. God has made it quite clear that only through a personal relationship with Jesus may one be admitted to Heaven. Everyone else has to go to Hell and that is where those Turks are bound.

I could care less about the legos. You know how many pieces I have to pick up. You built it once and then you collect more pieces to put away.

I guess to some people it may resemble, but if it did, so what. So what. That's how you get ideas. There's always sommeone out there trying to accuse you of something. Give it a rest. But now that the world knows, thanks it sure will become a limited edition to collectors..

It is hard to tell what is going on here. The whole kit and kaboodle seems to revolve around the similarity between a temple and a colander in that neither are made out of plastic blocks that hold together in the same way that a community can gather to agree that some action is detrimental to society and choose to take action. One must wonder on occasion if it is better to believe in the simple power of a child to grasp the nature of architecture by playing with blocks or if it is worth it, as an adult member of the community to slap the toys out of the child's fingertips and deny them the discovery of creativity, and in essence, confirming that they will become a productive member of society, and by that I mean a common labor hand working the fields. My opinion is that lego blocks are a destructive force and should be abolished, as they were invented by communists in a communist country and by default, are an insidious plot designed to destroy the very foundations of America.
