SAN ANTONIO -- An Air Force trainer from Joint Base San Antonio- Lackland was sentenced to four years in prison Saturday after being found guilty of raping a former training student.
Staff Sgt. Eddy Soto was a 11-year veteran with the Air Force. Soto had already pleaded guilty to five various counts of sexual misconduct, including sexual assault, wrongful sexual assault, making a false official statement and having sex with a female trainee and the wife of a trainee.
Soto had maintained he was innocent of the rape charge. A judge found him guilty Saturday and immediately proceeded to the sentencing phase.
He was ordered to start his sentence immediately and was dishonorably discharged.
Soto joins the ranks of 32 Lackland instructors who have been investigated over the past couple of years for sexual misconduct.
Six of those instructors have since been convicted.
