camidawg - amen to you but I think you are just wasting your time. City council are a bunch of thieves including the mayor. Next time they are up for reelection do everyone a favor and vote these robbers out of office and YES Mr. Mayor, that includes you. Put this right up there with the PreK debaucle and changing the christmas lights after only one year of the led lights. If we didn't like them in Christmas lights what makes you think we like them in street lights, I say, street lights. I'm sure your constituents were telling you and the city council then that we didn't want the expense of replacing them, now we have to pay again because of your poor planning. Stick that 1/8% tax for PreK(and anything else)where the sun don't shine. Mark my words, your time in office is running short.

Just to let you all know I don't just talk smack. I like to back up my facts. From the pages of a Wall Street Journal article. "The new Cree outdoor street-light unit will sell for under $200 when bought in volume, according to Ty Mitchell, a lighting executive at the North Carolina-based company. At that price, the new bulbs will be comparable in cost to traditional high-pressure sodium vacuum technology when maintenance and energy costs are included." Even if the bucket truck and two workers cost $200.00 that's still $100 leftover---per light. who is walking away with a free $25,000.00 in thier pockets. Here's me just trying to keep them honest.

Dear City Council. Give me and my buddy $14 million and a list of where you want these lights at and we will have them installed in a matter of weeks. I bet we can go $12 million under budget...so we ge to keep the rest for labor. That's a pretty steep price and I would like to know what it would have cost taxpayers if it had been open to public bids. $560.00!!!! per light assembly (you don't have to change out the entire lightpole)...seriously. That's the charge you send to Mr. Drunkass who takes out the entire utility pole on his way home. I'm confused. How the hell do you people keep your jobs?
