SAN ANTONIO - American doctors are warning people of a product that is being sold on-line.  It claims to give you a tan, boost your sex drive, and slim you down all through an injection.

Melanotan II is a synthetic hormone that stimulates our pigment cells to produce a tan.  The FDA has not approved its use in America and officials in Australia have banned it.

American doctors say the drug could be toxic and it puts you at risk for diseases.

"If we are stimulating the same cells that turn cancerous in melanoma, I think the risk is very real," Dr. Lisa Benest said.

Melanotan's manufacturer, GM2 labs, ships the product from Texas.

We checked out the FAQ section of its website.  When asked how can a person be assured that the product is genuine, the company's response was "our business has been reliant on customer service."  The website also states the company has no instructions on how to use its product.

another snake oil pitch. It is very disturbing though, that it is coming right from TEXAS!!! and Australia has already seen fit to ban it. The U.S. is so slow when it comes to banning things that lends themselves so easily to abuse and medical hazards.

As P.T. Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute." But what could we expect when there are "Better than a face lift" and "55 y.o. mom looks looks 25" ads down at the bottom of the page. News is one thing, but this story is organic fertillizer.
