SAN ANTONIO -- A family is praying you can help solve the mystery of who killed their loved one on Valentine's Day two years ago.
47-year-old Harold Hughes was shot once in the chest in his grandmother's doorway in the 200 block of Tomrob on Feb. 14, 2011. Family members say he may have answered the door very early that morning. Harold was taking care of his mother and grandmother at the time of his death and was up late fixing a van at the time of the attack, they said.
Harold was a devoted father to three children, his wife Gigi said.
"Some days you have really good days and then sometimes it can just be the color of a shirt or something that reminds you of an event or the kids will say something and it will trigger a lot of sadness," Gigi said.
The kids are now growing up and living up to his expectations by studying hard and attending or making plans to attend college, she said.
Two men were seen running away from the scene, but no one has been charged with Harold's murder. If you have any information that can help police, you're urged to call Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP (7867). You can remain anonymous and you could get up to a $5,000 reward.
