I'm sorry the thread went mute again. Well, just to put the cherry on the cake of my last post, electrolysis would produce, besides the hydrogen needed as fuel, lots of oxygen (water is made by both elements). So we can also recoup the huge quantities of oxygen lost to logging/deforestation. Win win all over.

Forget methane, butane and propane. They do more harm than good. If you want to ensure a source of energy for the future, and at the same time start taking control of the oceans rising levels, invest now on electrolysis to produce pure hidrogen and oxigen from the water. Yes, it's expensive, but it will be more expensive to run suddenly out of oil in a planet with 9 or 10 thousand million people (9 or 10 billion for the gringo). If we apply funds for this today, in combination with multiple de-salination plants around the country, we will never run out of drinking water nor fuel, and very likely the sea level will never pose a danger to human settlements near the coasts. It would be something we'd never regret.

@ yumbrandz...I believe that the U S will be the only country that has the technology to use this fuel source in a environmentally safe way. third world countrys are not going to care about the rules . besides that you know as well as i do if we had to charge what it costs to remove the co2 from the atmosphere on top of the price of fuel , not many would be able to afford to use it.

Methane clathrates will only increase the amount of carbon dioxide in the air and will doom us all to a hellish world of 10-degree Celsius temperature rise over the coming centuries. Be careful what you wish for.

Lite it up where it is, so that we can have a warm winter.

Better harness it before Obama finds out.
