SAN ANTONIO -- Close to 400 friends and family of Kristine Meza gathered Saturday at South Side Lions Park for the 2nd Annual "Stop the Silence, End the Violence!” 5K run/walk all in the name of raising awareness about domestic violence.

On Feb. 11, 2011, 25-year-old Meza was ambushed in her driveway on her way to work by her estranged ex-boyfriend.

Ever since Meza’s death, friends and family have hosted various events, including BBQ plate sales and a dodgeball tournament to help fuel their mission to educate the community about domestic violence.

Funds raised on Saturday went toward the Battered Women and Children's Shelter. For more information about the Kristine Meza Foundation visit
