SAN ANTONIO- A woman is homeless, after her house caught fire. The flames ignited just before five Thursday morning at a house located on Florida near Delaware, east of downtown.

The homeowner wasn't staying there, and she explained that her furnace hadn't been working for sometime so she just couldn't understand how a fire broke out in her home.

“I got sick after Thanksgiving and I’m on a breathing machine so I went to go stay with my niece because there is no heat here,” said Venus Headley.

A neighbor called Venus early Thursday morning to tell her the bad news. When she arrived fire fighters had already put the flames out. But by sunrise, Venus could see there was not much left of her family home.

She said, “I lost everything. I have 13 years of memories of raising my kids and my grand babies, now I have nothing”.

Venus' outdoor dog that she would stop by to feed everyday was the only one around. He survived.

Fire fighters don't know what caused the fire that woke up neighbors blocks away.

“I could see the flames from my house which is like three blocks down,” explained Joann Saldana.

A sign now hangs in the doorway stating the house is condemned. It's now set to be demolished.

If there could be any good news to come out of this is that Venus had insurance. That still does not replace the memories and belongings she lost.

Sad about all the memories lost, but happy she had insurance.
