Home intruders force brothers into closet at gunpoint

SAN ANTONIO -- Two brothers were forced into a closet at gunpoint during a home invasion on the Northwest Side Friday morning.

Officers were called to the 6400 block of Ridgebrook, near Culebra and Tezel, around 10:00 a.m. Two brothers living at the home said some men with guns burst into the home and made them get into a closet. The home intruders then stole several items. After they left, the brothers ran to a neighbor's house to call for help.

The brothers were not injured.

Sigh...I guess it's finally time to start sleeping with a SCBA and flooding the house with an inert gas before bedtime. That would have the unfortunate drawback of killing anyone who broke into my house while I was asleep. On the other hand, though, when I wake up the next morning I might find some cool stuff on the floor, like his gun, or maybe a set of car keys. Maybe he'd even have some money in his pockets!

My question is this. Why weren't those two boys in school? Friday was a school day and if they were home schooled, where was the teacher? Second, if there was a gun in the house and these boys knew how to properly handle it, these two criminals would have had a possibility of ending their criminal ways right inside the doorway.

So tell me once again how banning guns is going to keep this from happening?! I don't think criminals abide by laws anyway, so what's going to change with more gun laws & restricting law-abiding citizens...hmmmmm?!
