SAN ANTONIO – A police officer is being hailed as a hero after rescuing an injured woman from a burning building.
The fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night in an abandoned bail bonds building near Commerce and Frio. A San Antonio Police Department officer saw the smoke and responded to the location.
People who has already escaped the flames told the officer someone was still inside. The officer kicked in a door, found a woman inside and pulled her to safety.
The woman suffered burns over most of her body and was rushed to Brooke Army Medical Center for treatment.
Fire investigators say someone intentionally set the fire.
