The fire started at a home on Pleasanton Road on the city's South side. Four young boys narrowly escape a fire in their home Saturday morning.
The flames spread quickly leaving two families without a place to call home.
Although firefighters put the flames out quickly, it wasn't fast enough to save the home.Investigators say it started when the four boys were using the stove to stay warm.
Heat from the stove started a fire which prompted the boys to run next door. One boys was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. He was released.
Fire officials say it is not a good idea to use appliances to stay warm.
"Just be real, real cautious," said Neal Giles of the San Antonio Fire Department. "We don't want to have any more problems of people being burned out of their houses right before the holidays. It's a bad situation all around."
The Red Cross is stepping in to help the families that were living in that home.
