OK, as I understand the video essay, the gun club has been there over 50 years? Without an accident? Seems to me that's a good thing. If there is development and City-built running trails springing up around the grounds, I would hope the City allows the club to continue operations. One would think that all gun clubs adhere to strict safety procedures with this particular club being no different as evidenced by its sterling record. It appears the club has gone to great lengths to post "no trespassing" signs on its property. Yet, bikers and joggers still leave the adjacent City-built trails and opt to trespass on the club's property making their own trails instead. Perhaps these trespassers are the ones who should be the subject of a sensationalized news story, rather than the gun club. Did I miss something significant in the news story. I really don't think there's a safety issue here. If anything, seems that the real issue is one of trespassing that could have awful consequences. Was this story an attempt to "make news" where none exists?

You probably heard semi-automatic shotgun fire. When shooting multiple clays one uses an autoloading shotgun and fires multiple times in rapid succession.

question... do those who shoot there ONLY use shot guns? i've been out there and heard what sounds like semi-auto or handgun fire out there, much different than just shot gun fire. that was what my point was about, but yes, LT, you are correct. shot gun pellets don't travel that far.

I'm sure glad that I own a shotgun & 4 wheel drive instead of a bicycle. But what ever it takes to get these bicyclist off of the streets. Keep your weird a$$ in Austin!

@losttarget...Sounds logical...Why didn't WOAI find this out before they wrote this articile? Or the person who complained about it to WOAI..

RE: a bullet ricochets Clay target shooting (small BB like pellets, not bullets) and no ricochets possible at that distance. Most clay target ranges have a 300 yard shot fall zone. Shot does not travel that distance, just an added safey factor. If your a football field away, your well outside any danger zone!

That was Real Smart (wink, wink) of the cc to put that bike trail near a gun club. Kind of like the city Geniuses who installed tens or more? Thousands of dollars worth of exercise equipment in local parks, etc. OUTSIDE in the elements.."to rust & for the birds to poop on".. according to friends who frequent Comanche Park. Iow, Stupid is as Stupid does, with Whose money?

let me understand this...gun club has been there for 50 years and the City knew it...now someone (most likely a biker) just had to complain. OH my! You just had to know this would happen. Now the City Council is going to demand the gun club close for safety reasons. You could see this coming. What a plan!
