@twister...........What?!??!?! No acknowledgment or thank you for pointing it out to you that reCAPTCHA 's solution to the massive influx of spam isn't stopping it?!???!?! It is, however, infuriating most commenters to have to use the two words that were SUPPPOSED to stop the spam. (I can't read the two below my comment that I'll have to reproduce in order to post my comment!!!!!) You know, no matter how contentious our relationship is, I would have acknowledged it to you had the situation been reversed, just as I've apologized to you the couple of times I've been in error on a specific point in our debates. Can you not bring yourself to be a gentleman?

That comment I made earlier today about recapcha preventing spam? Scratch that, it is reappearing.

I had an interview with someone named Kent Booble and he said there was nothing to this, just that anyone can troll in the lake and it won't matter none if the fish have all died. But this was near Abilene, not in the Panhandle.

twister, you must not be paying attention. reCAPTCHA has done nothing to stop the spam. As a matter of fact, I think the spam postings increased just to belittle WOAI.

Is this news only because Google is saying it? I would say a fingerprint scanner is the most obvious solution. I think ReCapcha is effectively stopping spammers from leaving comments, but it is definitely annoying to use.

In order to minimize the risk of loss the sensitive data never leaves the house. the risk you speak of, Metal70s, is the same whether the data is left on a laptop or a removable drive. One simply does not need to carry around bank account information on a tablet or other portable device. Allowing the computer to store that type of information may be a convenience to the user, but at what risk? In today's electronic age convenience seems to be the method used in order to get a great number of people to surrender their privacy with nary a thought. As for reCaptcha it is a bit of an annoyance and I have no idea what the site is trying to stop by its use, but that is up to the website.

We do need something other than routinely hacked passwords (dog, cat, 1234, dad...) What happens when you drop/misplace the device and someone else scoops it up and goes on a shopping spree? Dont ya just love reCapcha? Shoulda just blocked those foreign IP ranges.

Sounds interesting - looking forward to hearing more of the report. For years I have always kept my data files on physically external devices that could be removed from the computer. On some devices passwords, too, were required to access the data.
