The Brighton Center is a place for kids with disabilities to go and learn. Plus, there are services for parent and even in-home care. The group, located on Higgins Road on the Northeast Side, serves about 2,700 kids a year. There are lots of ways you can help out.
"Whether it's shredding old records or putting enrollment packets together," said Katrina Campbell.
You can also help in one of their key projects. Their playground needs re-mulching and repainting and landscaping would help too.
"We love men who have construction backgrounds, who can come up here and help us keep our playgrounds up to date," added Campbell.
If you pass a background check, you could help them work with the kids.
"Safety is our first priority for our children," Campbell explained. "So, we would have to do a background check, fingerprinting, that sort of thing. But we could absolutely get them involved with the daily activity of the kids."
As a volunteer, you're not committed to a certain amount of time. They ask that you just finish the project you start.
