SAN ANTONIO -- Many of you are suffering from the effects of mountain cedar right now. But there's something else that will be lurking in the air and ready to bring misery for spring.
"The one that is most problematic for people is live oak," explained
Allergist Dr. Dennis Dilley. "That's the one that coats your car and your sidewalk with that yellow residue. And that's the one that makes people very miserable. They have itchy eyes, and we'll see a lot of asthma problems during that time. Kids will have a lot of wheezing."
You can expect to see live oak in mid to late March. Before it hits, people will start feeling the effects of ash trees right after Valentine's Day.
While there are many places such as the midwest that get a break from allergies, San Antonians often suffer all year long.
The best thing Dr. Dilley says you can do is come up with a preventative plan with your allergist before you start suffering.
