CUERO, Texas - The 40th Annual Cuero Turkeyfest is coming up this weekend, and Ruby the turkey was here gobbling all about it. Cory Thamm and Erik McCowan, Turkeyfest board members, brought Ruby to tell us everything we can expect at this festival. Dressed in traditional Sultan attire, Cory explains that the event follows the 100th Annual Cuero Turkey Trot where people dressed in these outfits herd large groups of turkeys through the city.
Turkeyfest will hold a carnival with games and arts and crafts. Of course, there will be food including a cook-off. Also, the event has live music including performing artists like Cory Morrow. Don’t forget to check out the turkey race where Ruby will take on her biggest competition, Paycheck the turkey. To give Ruby a little practice, Shelly took her on in a race across the studio. Check out this full segment to see who won right here on saliving.com.
Turkeyfest is held at Cuero City Park in Cuero, Texas. It will last from Friday, October 12th through Sunday, October 14th. Presale tickets are available now, or walk up tickets are also available. For more information, visit
