If you are trying to lose weight, we have a different way that could help. It's a new option that involves your cell phone and it might help you eat a healthier diet.
Sometimes making the right food choice can be confusing. But now you can get all the nutritional information you need from your favorite restaurants by using your cell phone.
The program is called "Nutrition on the Go" - a text message service that lets you get nutritional information like calories, fat and protein on your favorite restaurant foods.
"We have 1,700 restaurants in the data base right now and we're going for the top restaurant chains to start with," said Meredith Oliver, with Diet.com.
Here's how it works. You punch in a special number, then type in the restaurant name and specific food item. Then in an instant a text message appears with the nutritional information.
"You can easily talk yourself into eating something when you don't know how many calories it's got," said Lauren Alford, who uses Nutrition on the Go. "But when you see it, it helps with the restriction."
The Nutrition on the Go service is free as long as you have text messaging on your cell phone.
