SAN ANTONIO--People who purchased furniture at Motif Modern Living off N. Loop 1604 W. said they were shocked when the store suddenly closed. "They just took my money and left, " said Javier Torres

Torres told News 4 WOAI he purchased a dinning table from Motif back in February and had been waiting for it ever since.
"$ 2,034.00 dollars is what I paid to be exact, Torres went on to say.

We ran into another customer who had stopped by the store after she never received her furniture. "I'm in shock more than anything things like this can happen here, " said Karen Berlin.

An 877 customer service number for the company has been disconnected. The company's website acknowledges its Kyle location has closed, but says nothing about San Antonio.

The Better Business Bureau has an open investigation into the company and is waiting on Motif to respond.

The agency urges any Motif customers with an issue to contact the BBB.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I ordered a bed back in December and I was told that it would be here in 4 to 6 weeks. I called to just double check in January and I was told the order was pushed back until the end of May. I was very presistant and called every week just in case the order had changed. Then came the end of March and they told me it would be in at the End of April. So I waited and on May first I called and DEMANDED my money back. They told me that the order had been canceled and they would refund my money, which they did the next day. Thankful I only paid half of the item which was $400. In January I ordered a couch and chair for $1600.00 and that was delivered in 3 weeks to my place. Although I am a bit concernered about the warranty with my purchase. I am going to file a complaint anyways because I think they false advertized the 2 million dollar remodeling store sale. I ordered my bed in Kyle and when I drove by in March I saw that the store was closed. I called the San Antonio store location and they told me that the San Antonio store had the most business and they moved it to San Antonio and will now be the main store, they LIED. I met the owner in the Kyle store and he said that they were gonna get totally new furniture thats they needed to get rid of the old. He Lied! I wish everyone luck, this is not good!

Well leexjd, maybe you should have settled for furniture that looks like everyone else's (ie Haverty's), because you would have your furniture, and not have been ripped off and left with no money or furniture. hmmmmm. just a thought.

People don't wait so long before you investigate. If it's more than two or three days follow through contact the police and the BBB. Now they are out thousands of dollars.

When a company shuts down without notifying their customers in advance is a bad sign of how they conduct business. Good luck to all that purchased from here in getting what you paid for. Hopefully you have some way of getting your money back.

Motif was neither little, nor 'off the wall'- it had two large locations and has been in San Antonio for more than 4 years. Some of us don't want furniture that looks like everyone else's (ie Haverty's...), ESPECIALLY if it costs $2000. Why would you lay the blame on customers?
