SAN ANTONIO –Two grieving families gathered for a Rosary at Delgado Funeral Home, with heavy hearts, remembering little Jayda De La Rosa. Jayda was left in a car seat outside Fire Station Number 10 on September 23, 2009.

“It’s effected us a lot,” said Jayda’s aunt Reggie De La Rosa. “Especially since she was a newborn. We didn’t get to be with her much.”

Investigators say the baby’s body had visible injuries when firefighters found her. There were burns on the bottom of the baby’s feet, a scrape on her finger, and she weighed just a few pounds according to investigators.

Detectives have charged the baby’s 18-year-old father, Ramiro De La Rosa, with injury to a child. Jayda’s 16-year-old mother is also locked up, accused of failing to do anything to stop the abuse.

‘We wish she was she was here so we could still be with her,” said Reggie De La Rosa as she remembered Jayda. “She will always be in our hearts and memories. We love her and thank everybody for their respects for her.”

Jayda De La Rosa’s funeral will be held at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, November 5, 2009 at noon.
