SAN ANTONIO- A man wanted for sexual assault of a child is in jail after eluding authorities Wednesday night and much of the day Thursday.
The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force captured 18-year-old Chase Anderson after hours of searching by ground and air. Supervisory Deputy Marshal Mark McPherson said Anderson had escaped into the woods Wednesday evening and authorities called off the search at about 3:00 a.m. The search then resumed Thursday at 7:30 a.m. Anderson was spotted walking in a neighborhood off Evans Road near Highway 281 and ran into the greenbelt again.
McPherson said SAPD's helicopter was critical in their search because the bird's eye view helped authorities locate Anderson. Search dogs caught his scent, and Anderson was taken into custody without a fight.
He had a pistol and ammunition in his backpack, but no one was hurt, McPherson said. Anderson is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.
