SAN ANTONIO -- Four families were displaced by an apartment complex fire late Saturday on the East side, fire officials said.

Authorities say the fire occurred in the 4500 block of Lavender Lane at The Ivy Apartments at 10:40 p.m. Saturday. A woman and her four children were in their apartment when they reportedly smelled smoke, saw fire and immediately evacuated.

The fire then quickly spread throughout the apartment, fire officials said. Three other units in the building sustained smoke and water damage. No injuries were reported.

Management of the apartment complex were offering assistance to the families. Damages were estimated at $70,000.
