May the parents find the strength to regain peace in their hearts..I am so depressed and didn't even know this young man..Why, why does this happen to people that seem to be doing everything right???? I have two teen drivers..This is my biggest fear..God Bless your whole family and friends..I visited your FB just because it's mentioned here and I was in tears..

What a shame at such a young age. One comment in the story though bothers me..."We think maybe he over-steered, over-corrected,” Sgt. Tobe Whitley says. “Caused him to skid." How much you want to bet that texting was involved? He looked up from his phone and had to avert an accident is my guess. I guess we'll never know.

The worst part is that Andres Cabrera was the most outgoing, optimistic and uplifting person I knew. People always say something like this after someone they knew died, but this guy was the happiest kid I knew. He was such a good influence on me and other people that he knew at Ronald Reagan High School and everyone else around him. He will be missed.

My heart goes out to his family. I can't even begin to imagine the pain they must be experiencing but pray for their strength as they pull together to remember the lives he must've touched and the smiles he shared.

I know it sounds strange but whenever I read about the tragic death of someone I look them up in facebook. I don't know why...I guess I just want to put a face to the story. If I found the right page, which I'm pretty sure I did, then he looks like a real nice kid. Graduated school, had a job, lots of friends and family. He certainly had a bright future ahead and it's a real shame to lose him. Let's slow down out there today.

I hope this young man's family finds the strentgh to deal with such an awful tragedy. My brother was killed in an accident on Military and old Pearsall. Initially police said he was racing, but have changed to indicate he wasn't. The driver fled the scene and has not been caught. It's been 3 months and we're still mourning. Prayers go out to the family of this young man. Truly sorry.

Isee people speeding down that tstretch of Sonterra all the time and it causes them to not be able to stay in their lane. Perhaps more police patroling that area might help. At that time of morning there are kids traveling to school for sport practice and such, so sorry this young person had to lose their life. God be with the family during this difficult time.
