Firefighting capability stretched thin

The Sandy Oaks Volunteer Fire Department shut down after midnight New Year's Eve. Now another fire district is sending in firefighters temporarily while a contract dispute continues.

With the loss of the fire station and the increase in response times, has Sylvia Mendelsohn ESD president told the homeowners to contact their insurance companies. Homeowners insurance policys will be affected with an cost increase.
