SAN ANTONIO -- Fire destroyed a home just east of Downtown Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to the 1200 block of Florida Street around 5:00 a.m. Thursday when witnesses reported seeing heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof and windows of the home. Crews battled the flames for more than an hour before a fire chief could be heard over the emergency scanner ordering the firefighters to evacuate the structure for fear of collapse.

News 4 WOAI spoke to a woman at the scene who said she has lived in the house for 13 years but was not home at the time of the fire. The woman lost all of her belongings in the fire.

There were no injuries reported. Arson investigators were called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
