SAN ANTONIO--Firefighters are fighting more than just flames but the triple digit temperatures as well.
During these hot days dispatchers will direct extra fire crews to a scene, even if it's just a small fire.
"We're rotating those crews in order to keep them safe and in order to keep them healthy, " said Deborah Foster with SAFD.
Foster told News 4 WOAI firefighters are only able to work a certain amount of time before they must rotate out and go through a rehab process to cool them down.
"They'll monitor the vital signs, blood pressure, pulse rates, and make sure everything is within moderate ranges normal ranges, " Foster went on to say.
The San Antonio Fire Department expects firefighters to be rotating out and going through the rehab process through out the summer.
