SAN ANTONIO -- A firefighter was hit by an SUV outside a North Side fire station.
The accident happened just before 8:00 a.m. Thursday in the 500 block of West Russell Place. News 4 WOAI was told fire crews were backing a fire truck into a stall at the station, when an SUV hit one of firefighters who was helping direct the driver of the truck.
The impact sent the firefighter flying into the air. Although he remained conscious and did not have any visible signs of serious injuries, the firefighter was taken to University Hospital to be checked for internal injuries.
The driver of the SUV, who may have been blinded by the sun, said he saw the fire truck but did not see the firefighter. He is not expected to face any charges.
