SAN ANTONIO- A family escapes a house fire with their lives, but their home is destroyed. Nobody was hurt, but they won't be staying in their home anytime soon because it has extensive damage.

The fire ignited after Sunday afternoon after four o’clock along the 1400 block of Pyron Avenue on the Southside.

Everything you can imagine from basic necessities to the extra things that you work hard for are gone for the Aguilar family. But, the fire has become more devastating because they lost things belonging to a loved one who died this past year.

“My dad passed away and I had some things of his and everything is gone, some rifles of his that he left me, they're burnt, they're all burnt,” explained the homeowner Jose Aguilar.

According to fire officials, the fire was sparked by an electrical shortage. The family had recently installed a small refrigerator in a back room and that's what caused the fire.

An electrical short is hardly a 'shortage'. Who teaches these WOAI 'reporters' how to write? Glad everyone was ok and no one hurt.
