SAN ANTONIO -- The family of 29-year-old Daniel Gonzales is hoping someone will come forward and help solve his murder. Gonzales was shot in the head just after 8:00 p.m. Sunday in the 2500 block of Westward Drive, near Military Drive and Highway 90.
Police said Gonzales and his brothers were standing on the sidewalk behind a vehicle parked in the street when a blue Suburban pulled up and stopped in the street in front of them.
The two witnesses told investigators the man driving the Suburban exchanged a few words and then exchanged a few words and then pulled a gun and fired at least two shots at them.
"They ran you know and the next thing you know they just saw my brother on the floor, and the guy got in his car, and he went that direction," said Sandra Trevino, Gonzales' sister.
Gonzales was shot in the head and was taken by ambulance to University Hospital. "Seeing him there was like the worst thing you could see," said Trevino.
Trevino said her brother was brain dead. The family took the 29-year-old off life support Monday night. "We kept him on life support because we wanted to at least keep Daniel alive by donating his organs, and we were able to do that," said Trevino.
Gonzales leaves behind a loving family including several children. The family has set up an account at Amegy Bank of Texas to help with funeral expenses. The account has been set up in Gonzales' name. Anyone wishing to donate can stop by any Amegy location.
