@Johnny Cash I think comment is unwanted here. It should matter what he was doing walking at that time of night. I think what most people and even the family concern is that he was unarmed. I think most of the post on here are missing the point of the family. They just plainly want to know what happen and from what I can tell no one does. I am pretty sure the military will be involved as he was a soldier bottom line. No matter if he was drunk or not or even that it was 130 am when he was walking. To me there is not enough detail here from what is being told to the public about this to make a decision.

What was your good son doing walking down the street at 1:30 am?? How come your good son didnt have a car??? Didnt have a job maybe.. Was in the Army. 19 years old enlistments are 4 years. Mst of joined at 16 Bottom line the parents are tryig to say this cop pulled over and just hot their ood son. How f!@#ing rediculous. He didnt do anything, he was a good boy.

Oh, I totally agree with you, Superspurs. My difficulty is in the fact that we allow 18 yr. olds to choose to give their life for their country, but don't think they are mature and old enough to make mature decisions with regard to drink. Child support laws designate that an "child" is such until 18, yet law enforcement considers them such at 17 or less. What I'm saying is that there is inequity in the different laws, and there shouldn't be with regard to the circumstances they rule over. This particular incident, I've got problems with in different aspects and areas, as most of which I've expressed in previous posts. My biggest and main point, with regard to personal decisions is......if we're willing to allow them to sign up for military service and put their lives in jeopardy for the safety of our country, they should be considered mature enough to choose the personal choice of drinking alcohol. Don't want to lower the drinking age to 18, then at least add a caveat that exempts those in the military that you're fine with allowing them the decision to die for you.

@Dixie, when you choose to join the military, you accept the life and death aspect of it. It becomes your job. You have to do your job to the best of your ability. I am not saying he should not drink, its the choice of over indulgence that may have led to this confrontation. I was not there. He may have been totally sober.

Superspurs, I agree, but........where do we legally draw the line on the drinking and responsibilty? My biggest problem, and it's not advocating drinking...........if you allow a child to make the decision to join our military with the knowledge that his/her life might be on the line, how can you deny them the recognition of adult maturity and responsibility to make their drinking choices? Isn't that opposing realities? Forgive me, with regard to your response to my comment, because I overall do agree with your comment. I have a bit of a chip on my shoulder on this subject because of a family member that signed up, became a Marine, yet could not LEGALLY imbibe in alcoholic beverages due to age. Duh!??!?!?! Let's get real here!! I'm NOT advocating drinking....I AM advocating honesty, fairness, and adult responsiblitity. To me, there is NO REASON or LOGIC on this "subject", or on the fact that a parent must pay child support until a child is 18, yet the same child at 17 is considered an adult in certain criminal circumstances and legal definitions in most states. Sorry, but this is a 100% contradiction of legal terms and needs to be addressed and corrected. Hypocrisy!!! Where & when do we draw the line?

@Dixie, I think the probable over-consumption of alcohol may have fueled the ensuing argument which led to him being asked to walk it off, which led to the deadly confrontation. At 19 years old, not many of us can hold our liquor with any kind of rational behavior.

I have my personal feelings on this situation between all the news articles I've read, and all the PERSONAL comments (ie: personal feelings/knowledge) associated with them. Truthfully, I still find plenty of cause and reason to be skeptical of the "so called" legal facts of this situation. The "fight" was an argument over politics. Darn, we ALL know how out of line and emotional that can get!!!! He was told to walk it off. Geez.............how many of you have been in similar circumstances where that sentiment/statement was used???? He was 19 years old, at a party celebrating an older brother's birthday. Alcohol was being served, there is no doubt about that. He was 19 years old, old enough to serve this country and willingly GIVE HIS LIFE for the USA and its citizens, yet he's not old enough to drink. Sorry, I have a problem with that, and this has NOTHING to do with drinking alcohol. It has to do with reason and fairness. Also, unless laws have changed (I haven't checked), underage individuals can drink with their parents' permission and supervision under legally defined circumstances, beyond a certain age. So, if alcohol was flowing at this party, the deceased parents were present and allowed his consumption, he was at the age that there truly was no reason to crucify them for it. Bottom line.............IF HE IS OLD ENOUGH TO SIGN UP FOR OUR MILITARY FORCES, HE'S OLD ENOUGH TO MAKE HIS OWN DECISIONS ABOUT CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL!!! I understand any and all arguments on this issue, but reality is....if you give them the right of maturity to decided whether or not to put their life on the line in service of this country, you should also consider them mature enough to make personal choices with regard to drinking alcohol. If not..........consider the mixed signals you're sending to those you want protecting this country, and not giving them the emotional support you should be affording them!!!!
