SAN ANTONIO- A mom is searching for her missing 19- year old daughter who she said suffers from severe mental illness and is suicidal. Cynthia Faye West was last seen on Tuesday when she was released from University Hospital, but her mom, Cindy Ochoa believes she may be in the downtown area.
Ochoa is very worried about her daughter not only because she knows she is capable of hurting herself but others as well.
“You know Cynthia is not only suicidal, she has also been homicidal before and I’m worried for her safety, I’m worried for the safety of others as well,” explained her mother.
Ochoa said it's a serious situation with her daughter Cynthia Faye West on the streets and mentally ill.
“She has several schizophrenic, bipolar, mood disorder, major depression, schizo effective, and personality disorder”.
Ochoa added that her daughter has suffered from mental illnesses all her life, but last Sunday there were serious signs of Cynthia Faye wanting to kill her self.
“Because she was having suicidal attempts on her life and I was concerned with her well being so I took her to the hospital”.
The plan was for a seven day hospital stay of observation. Instead two days after Cynthia Faye was admitted, Ochoa learned her daughter was released and took off on her own.
“They could have had some kind of courtesy and gave us a phone call knowing the situation with Cynthia. She has been in their hospital before and they have always called us in the past”.
With no word on Cynthia Faye’s whereabouts the family contacted police and listed her as a missing person. After posting flyers and searching area homeless shelters the family has been told that Cynthia Faye has been cited downtown near Haven for Hope.
And as the search continues Ochoa is asking for help to find her daughter.
Nineteen year old Cynthia Faye West has brown eyes and brown hair. She stands 5-feet 9-inches tall, and has short curly hair. If you have any information on this teen, call San Antonio Police Department Missing Person's Unit at 207-7660.
