SAN ANTONIO -- A man wanted in a rash of bank robberies in at least five cities was arrested in San Antonio.

Special Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Safe Street's Task Force arrested Douglas E. Ford, 46, at a Northwest Side apartment complex Friday morning.

Investigators say they believe Ford is the serial robber who has been caught on tape stealing money from banks in Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico and Mississippi since March 2010.

News 4 WOAI learned Ford has been convicted of bank robbery in the past. Law enforcement sources say Ford was also on federal supervision, for past crimes, when FBI agents captured him.

Ford remains in federal custody without bond.
