SAN ANTONIO - We’ve learned of new details and damaging accusations against a Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy arrested this week for DWI and assault.

Deputy Susanna Cervantes struggled with police officers after they pulled her over Thursday night. Officers had to use a taser to subdue her. Cervantes is charged with several offenses. Now the deputy's ex-husband is painting a picture of an extremely troubled person, who he says abused prescription drugs and her authority.

“You can tell she's lost. She's really lost,” Russell Cervantes told us.

He gave his reaction to the video of San Antonio police officers arresting his ex-wife. When police stopped, then opened the door to the deputy's car, they tell us she was uncooperative and tried to reach for something in the center console.

There was a scuffle, and Deputy Cervantes was tased. However, she pulled out the prongs, and police say they were forced to tase her a second time.

Russell Cervantes claims his ex-wife has a history of abusing prescription medication while on duty.

“She takes Vicodin. That's what she knows. She's on Vicodin. She doesn't look drunk,” he said.

Police have not released any results of toxicology tests that might show what was in Deputy Cervantes’ system at the time of the arrest.

Last September, police arrested Cervantes following a domestic disturbance. After putting her in the back seat of a patrol car, officers say she kicked out both rear door windows.

In this latest episode, Cervantes' ex believes the deputy was high on prescription pills and not drunk.

“She's been pulled over so many times, maybe like three times, and they let her go home, you know. It's just the power she had. We'd go into restaurants and get free meals because, you know, she had the badge, the uniform,” Russell Cervantes said.

At Deputy Susanna Cervantes' home Saturday no one answered to our knock at the door. The sound of a TV and a barking dog could be heard within.

We had hoped to get her response to the allegations made by her ex-husband, who told us, “She went in being a good cop, but ended up being a bad one.”

In addition to the multiple criminal charges against Deputy Cervantes, the new Bexar County Sheriff, Susan Pamerleau, says she'll conduct an internal investigation and take swift and decisive action.

My prayers to Susanna and her family, hopefully she gets the help she needs. As for the Ex, shame on him for using this situation to speak badly about her and not thinking of helping her and their children. As for pastor Bob,now a days a woman can be whatever she chooses, especially when she is the one providing for a family. Doesnt matter your gender Officers are people too and guess what we arent perfect, GOD knows that. I am a Police Officer and a woman, proud of it!! On a side note:: I think if only the women who have been assaultd by their husbands (who were proper POLICEMAN, as you say Pastor Bob) had tasers, give them a taste of their own medicine.

It is quite apparent this woman needs a thorough psychological exam and recommended treatment. She suffers from some mental disorder that is further complicated with drugs and alcohol. Get her some help....soon!

Being arrested previously on a domestice violence charge and breaking the window out of a squad car and then this, regardless of the ex's claims, this woman should not be a deputy or allowed to posses a gun. She needs help and as it stands right now, she is a loose cannon waiting to go off!

Its so sad to see your own peers arrest you. Please get some help. The new sheriff is trying to make a name for herself, after all she is a retired general officer; they have no allegiance to no one.......

This is all a one sided story and my father is very wrong in what he has done. Do not judge without knowing everything first and thank you too all the people who see the bigger picture.

Gosh, my ex was (is) a pathological liar so I don't have a lot of faith in his opinion or version of events. This young lady evidently has her problems, too, not the least of which is that ex of hers.

How in the hell did she get thru the screening process? As for her cowardly ex husband why on earth believe a single word coming out of his mouth. Folks ex's are ex's for a reason. It's obvious she should've never pinned on a badge and needs to be gone.

before any story is aired with these comments ALL NEWS teams should get the WHOLE story not just one side,we all know Dirt sells...i do not commend this woman in her actions but i do believe she was PUSHED to this...being human everyone has a breaking point.Drugs are never the answer! But if she was pushed to this place by someone,i do believe what you sow is what you will reap...so whoa to this person and their actions for causing one to fall as such.Is anyone without sin in their lives? Is anyone able to stand faultless ...instead of condemning we all should have compassion and want to help...maybe one day we will be the ones who are in need

It didn't take the Holy Roller very long to spew his canned venom. Niceday, her ex-husband isn't the one who committed the offenses.
