SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio woman who died after she was struck by a car last week is being remembered for her generosity and her love of art.

Members of St. John's Lutheran Church say 90-year-old Erna Zwicke gave to others every day. Zwicke died on October 9th after she was hit by a car while crossing Fredericksburg road in her wheelchair.

"She loved to paint and teach people how to paint," friend and fellow parishioner Mary Boehme told us. "Showed them how to express themselves in their paint."

Zwicke was also known as "Erna the Elf." For years, she drew on more than 1,500 envelopes during the Christmas season. The envelopes were for letters sent to children from Santa.

"Erna always drew things like Merry Christmas, an elf, a reindeer or a snow scene," said Boehme.

St. John's Lutheran Church will celebrate Erna's life Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. The church is located on East Nueva Street Downtown. Everyone is welcome to attend.
